Chicago 2006 Trip 010

Went to Chicago with the family to see Wicked. This was my second time seeing the show and I wasn't disappointed! It was a really beautiful day and I forgot how lovely Chicago is when the weather is perfect! There's so much to do and so much to see!

Two regrets of the day:
1.Wish I could've stayed longer and explored more
2.Wish I would've made time to get some Giadonnos pizza!

Two highlights of the day:
1.Revitalized my love for Chicago and made me want to come back and visit tomorrow
2.People watching

Happy weekend to you all. Sage and her beau are in town for a short visit - should be a great time!

How Pathetic!

Just realized it's been almost a month since my last entry - how sad and inexcusable! I wish I could say that my life has been so incredibly exciting I just haven't had time to write, but alas, that is not the truth - I've simply been lazy! I've been feeling really great with the occasional nausea and constant hunger. Currently I'm 10 weeks along and cannot wait for our 12-week appointment where we'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat! Mitch has been incredible down this new journey of ours. It's strange that he's now very concerned about the simple things, like driving safer, asking if I need a massage, etc. - geez, I should've said I was pregnant years ago! It's the days that we're cuddled up on the couch together watching tv that I look over and think about what an awesome Dad he's going to be! Still surreal that someone is allowing us to be in charge of a tiny infant in 6 months, it's even more surreal that someone will eventually call me "Mom" and mean it! Geez, I'm going to have to pull out the "Because I told you to" and "If I have to tell you one more time..." phrases soon enough I suppose! Happy Monday to all.

Baby On Board!

What a whirlwind we've recently been on! Haven't posted in awhile, only because it's been crazy lately! We recently found out that we are going to be parents! Holy cow, we hardly believe it still! We're thrilled beyond words, but the whole thing seems so surreal! Spent a couple of days letting family and friends in on the big news. Today is the first doctor visit, so I'm crossing my fingers.

What a wonderful journey we have started on - can't wait for it all!

Flipped through channels last night and came across American Inventors. I believe it's produced by the American Idol folks, but not positive. You could just feel the investment that each inventor had put into their product. Each invention was unique in its own right and had to make it through a panel of 4 judges (needed 3 out of 4 votes to move to the next round).

(Don't mind me for a minute while I rant).....
Let's just say that the one judge Doug is a big stupid-meany-head! Doug is cruel for no apparent reason - c'mon, let's talk about having the appropriate approach buddy! From American Idol, it's normal to hate Simon Cowell, but although he may lack tact, at least Cowell has respect! Doug will not gain any respect by the viewers by the way that he treats the inventors! Throughout the show, Doug claimed to be an expert on just about every topic and had a thought and an idea for everything!

(Okay, I'm back, but I can't guarantee I won't go off again about "D")....
It was refreshing to see such creativity and drive from so many. These people have poured their soul into this one idea that they feel is revolutionary and marketable. Whether it is or isn't, is not the point...

Zoom-A-Long!

I absolutely love the workdays that just zoom right by! I swear just an hour ago it was 7:30 a.m. and I was coming to work; but in fact, that was almost 9 hours ago! Woo-hoo, almost time to hit the road, make my "me-time" drive home, make some dinner and relax. Tonight is Mitch and Becky time - no meetings and no phone calls - hooray! It's monitoring time in our office, so files randomly get chosen, and of course the new girl's (ME!) files got pulled! I suppose we'll now really be able to tell what kind of a job I'm doing! The weather is too nice to be in a bad mood! I want to take all the grumpy customers and shake them and yell "what are you complaining about - YOU got to be outside while I've been stuck in here all day!" - but I don't, I won't, I can't.

Here's to the clouds - thanks for breaking and bringing us the glorious sunshine, even if it's short-lived, it's worth every second.

Spent Friday at Mom & Dad's taking care of Mom while she recovers from surgery. Mom is feeling better each day and continues to improve. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. Spent the rest of the weekend going going going! Saturday we met up with friends in Indy and had great company and great food - what a combination! Sunday I went shopping all day and hardly bought a thing - it was nice catching up with friends. Today I'm back to work and waiting for this enormous snow storm they're predicting. It's too early to hope for a work closing announcement for tomorrow. I don't think it's ever happened in the history of this company, but a woman's gotta have dreams!

Moving out of B-town news!

So the weaved bowl I created in my pottery class shouldn't have come out of the kiln! It was so much better with the thought and the vision of such a masterpiece! Unfortunately it did, and I was forced to see a silly looking bowl that I had worked on for so long and had not envisioned turning out like a cartoon shaped bowl with a really bad glaze. Laughing is allowed, for if you can not laugh at yourself (and your creations) what else do you have, really?! So instead of giving the bowl to my mother-in-law for her birthday, it is now a decoration in our home. Practice makes perfect (I've got a lot of practicing to do!)

I received excellent news last night from Mangi that she will be packing her bags in Boston and moving to the windy city in a year (and three months) to fulfill her destiny of pursuing improv. This is really great news - Mangi's coming home (insert bigs bursts of screams and jumping up and down here). Not only did I learn that, but everyone will be happy to know that I finally learned the difference between zucchinis and cucumbers! Thanks Mangi! Of course, this knowledge would have been appreciated two days ago when I made my zucchini (ah hem, rather, cucumber) bread - but now I know, which will surely help me in my time of zucchini making bread desire next time.
I'm at work this morning sipping on my 44oz. of Diet Coke (okay, who are we kidding - I'm gulping it down simply hoping it wakes me up!) and dreading heading out the door to the bitter cold. Meeting with a few customers today and then it's off to home where I can put my first homemade lasagna (which I whipped up last night thanks to Elizabeth's recipe) to the test. Geez, I'm such a domestic goddess!

Timezone Mishap

Thanks so much for all of you keeping me on my toes! I accidentally had the wrong timezone setting saved, so for those of you who thought I was completely crazy and writing at 5:00a.m., have no fear, I haven't completely lost my mind! The timezone has now been reset in my settings, and we shant have this confusion again.

Also, keep my Mom in your thoughts - she hasn't been feeling well lately and has to get her gall bladder removed sometime soon.

Photography, Family and Gourds - What else could a person ask for!

Spent a really great weekend with my parents! We took short road trips to take some photography, I painted a kazoo that my Dad made out of a gourd and we spent what was left of the weekend watching movies. Had a really great time and I can't wait to paint some more gourds that I stole from Dad's garden! Mitch returned from Wisconsin early this morning, so it will be nice to hang out this week. Need some inspiration for my pottery class tonight - I'm anxious to see how my fired pieces turned out.

I woke up this morning wishing it were Friday, but unfortunately Katie Couric said it was only Thursday! I'm crammed today with getting all my end of the week reports done since I have an all-day meeting out of town tomorrow.

Mitch is gone to OPE for the weekend, where he is helping interview Ball State Hall Director candidates. Heading to my parents tomorrow which will be a nice relaxing weekend. Dad & I are going to be gourded out all weekend - painting and creating gourds - what a festive time! For those of you who were completely unaware, there is an Indiana Gourd Society - I KNOW, you were probably completely in the dark too, but I am here to help you out! I've added the link to their website - although navigating through it is somewhat tiresome, there's some pretty nice photos of what people think of to create with a simple gourd!

THE BEST SHOW TO WATCH!!!

I've seen Grey's Anatomy a couple of times, and really enjoy it, but the problem is that it's on too late on Sunday nights, so I can never stay up and the thought of taking the energy to tape it seems like too much. I need you TIVO!!!!

Any how, they must have been showing a re-run from last Sunday. Let me just say that it had me on the edge of my seat! I cannot wait until Sunday - I am going to have to stay up to watch it! Very rarely would I blog about a television show, but there were so many plots and layers to the episode that it completely sucked me in! I was very impressed. If you haven't watched the show, and you like medical shows, make a date with abc on Sunday night - take a nap earlier in the day, you'll make it.

Do I Have To?

Seems like the calendar tells me that it's already Sunday, which makes tomorrow Monday, which inevitably means I have to go to work....do I have to? It's not that I don't enjoy my job, but I'd rather stay at home and get things done around the house - who wouldn't?! This weekend was a rollercoaster! Friday we went to Richmond to see a movie with friends (I personally don't recommend "Underworld Evolution" but everyone else with me enjoyed it, so what do I know!) and then on Saturday headed to Indy to play (and win) poker.

My pottery class begins tomorrow - I really hope it's all I hope for. A little bird told me that Betsy won a new car last week - way to go Betsy, you're probably the luckiest person I've ever known! Off to watch West Wing - wondering what they're going to do with Leo's character.

Tuesday Feels Like Monday!

It was nice not working yesterday, but I didn't really accompish much - big surprise! I did make it to the much dreaded Wal-Mart. What an internal struggle I have with that place - I can't stand Wal-Mart for so many reasons, but they really are the cheapest and have just about everything I need in one place. I'm going to try to stand firm and NOT go to Wal-Mart any more - it's difficult when you're trying to save money. It's a good excuse to go to Target though - Target, I love you!

Back to work today after a day off, and I find myself in a slump. I am enjoying my job, but I still feel there's something I'm supposed to be doing out there.....somewhere! If I were a risk-taker at all I would tempt fate, but I'm not, so here I stay! Okay, my break is over.

What a bummer of a day! The Colts lost 18-21. Our household is completely bummed, but they had a GREAT season and we can't wait until next season. I will be unable to root for the Steelers next week; their cockiness is frustrating. For all the Colts fans out there; stay strong and GO BLUE....it will be our year eventually.

I'm Feeling GOOD about the BIG Game - GO COLTS!

The Colts get ready to cream the Steelers in about 30 minutes and I can't wait! I learned the game of football about three years ago thanks to my crazy football fan husband Mitch, and increasingly, I have become one of "those people" who are obsessed with the Colts! Marvin Harrison (he likes when I call him "Marvy" of course) is my favorite player, and I am sure he'll pull it out today! I'm trying not to get too cocky about the game today, but I'm feeling REALLY good about it! Pretty happy Denver beat the Patriots last night - we're only 2 games away from the SuperBowl - does it get much better than this? Mitch and I were joking this morning that we have a knot in our stomachs like we did as kids Christmas morning with all the anxiety! I've made the weekly Colts food spread and Dustin and Julie are coming over to watch the game. Jeremy and Sarah came by last night to watch the Patriots get creamed (admittedly we didn't watch the game too intently when it was pretty clear Denver was going to win). All in all, I'm pretty excited about the game and also the fact that I don't have to work tomorrow.

I find it really sad that I just recently started this blog, and still haven't been able to keep up and post photos of recent visits to various cities with friends....I'm working on it, I promise! Of course, no time today.....gotta go heat up the spinach artichoke dip.

It's almost 2006 and we are hanging out at Chris's house in the Chicagoland area. We have definitely had enough drinks, and I'm struggling to stay awake until midnight....pathetic I know! Matt, Heather, Chris, Mitch and I finished playing Cranium and who know's what's next! Hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year's Eve and a great beginning to 2006! I love my husband!
